PERMANENT WEIGHT IN MOTION (WIM)
These dynamic scales are excellent for high traffic locations where vehicle speed is reduced to under 20 km/hr. Common applications include toll booths, border crossings, shipping gates, or factory floors where vehicle speed is reduced. You can depend on Massload permanent weight in motion scales to deliver high accuracy results over a very long life due to the rugged scale design. Permanent weight in motion scales require a pit to be poured to mount the weigh bridges into.
INSTALLATION
| Installation of Massload's permanent weight in motion scale is simple. An approximate hole must be cut through the surface of the roadway where the scale will be placed. Scale frames are then bolted together with braces which will later be used to keep the scale flush with surounding concrete. |
 |
| Proper drainage is provided to the cutout and the scale frames are then suspended over the cutout. The braces ensure the permanent pads are installed flush with the surrounding concrete to ensure a level approach to the scale and a level departure from the scale. |
 |
| The first pour creates the bottom of the scale pit. After the first pour has had time to cure, the second pour fills the outer portion of the scale cutout. Load cells, cables, sum boxes, LCIB computer interface, and WIM software are now ready to be installed to finish the scale installation. |

LIGHT CURTAIN
These are presence detection devices that use transmitters and receivers. The transmitter projects an array of parallel infrared light beams to the receiver which consists of a number of photoelectric cells. When a vehicle breaks one or more of the beams, a signal is sent to the WIM software to initiate the weighing process. When the infrared beam is no longer broken, it triggers the WIM system to finish weighing. This is the most accurate device for classifying vehicles, especially in bumper to bumper traffic where it is difficult to differentiate one vehicle's axles from another.

VEHICLE DETECTION LOOP
Inductive loops are another presence detection device that detect the electromagnetic signature of vehicles. They are used to begin or end a WIM process, and in this sense are similar in function to light curtains. They differ from light curtains in that they are less expensive but they are also less accurate at detecting vehicle length. Installation of inductive loops requires a 1/8" saw cut that is 1" deep and installed with copper wire and sealant.

TRAFFIC LIGHT
Massload software can control traffic lights to help you manage the flow of traffic before and after weighments. Traffic lights are useful to stop vehicles that are overweight or to direct traffic that is underweight. They can also be used to start and stop vehicle weighing through manual or automatic (presence detection) devices.

RFID TAG READER
Radio frequency identification tags can be placed in individual vehicles. When a vehicle with an RFID tag passes over the RFID reader at the scale site, their identification is tracked along with their weight. This allows you to track a fleet of vehciles easily and weight data can be sorted and analysed to understand fleet activity. Ideal candidates are mine sites with RFID tagged trucks to monitor truck weight and matial flow.

REMOTE SCORE BOARD
The remote score board displays vehicle weight at a long distance. Remote score boards can come with 2" lettering (visible to 50 feet), 4.5" letter (visible to under 250 feet), and to 6.5" lettering (visible to over 300 feet). Remote score boards can also come with traffic lights as seen here to direct the flow of traffic. Score boards allow you to check weight quickly and easily.
